Golf in the Lake Greenwood area

October 16, 2010

Sure golf courses are everywhere. There are more than 100 in Myrtle Beach, SC alone. Over the past 20 years golf courses have been built everywhere. Several golf courses have even been built on landfills. As far as golf courses go what can be done has been done. So what could possibly be special about a golf course on Lake Greenwood? Imagine this: The Links at Stoney Point was built 15 years ago as an excellent neighborhood golf course. It was challenging yet player friendly. Over the years a number of major improvements were made to the golf course including changing the greens from old Pen Cross Bent to Championship Bermuda. Even with the improvements the number of members slowly declined from around 200 to 40. When the owner had financial trouble it looked like the end for this terrific golf course- Until two of the local homeowners Jim & Denise Medford stepped in and bought the golf course. They made the comment to make The Links at Stoney Point one of the best golf courses in the south. This is no easy task being only a few miles from Augusta National. They installed water falls, fountains, new cart paths and so much more. At one time they even bought every azalea in South Carolina. The transformation has been nothing short of amazing. In only a few short months they have over 400 members.

We think the golf course is so special that we are now including a membership with any home or lot you buy in either The Lake Club or Charleston Place on Lake Greenwood. Please visit our web site CarolinaLakeProperty.com for details.

Golf on Lake Greenwood

Just a nice day on Lake Greenwood

October 13, 2010

Summer is slowly slipping away and we are just starting to get a hint of the fall colors to come. Tomorrow the day time highs will finally drop into the mid seventies and we’ll finally get to feel a little of what is always my favorite time of year. The air is so clear that I could actually clearly see the features of an eagle we startled while walking along the lake bank. I was fortunate on such a glorious day that I spent very little time in the office. I used the excuse of a client coming into town to sneak away and play 9 holes  of golf at Stoney Point. Though I hit more boggies than birdies it was time well spent.
